New England-Based Technology Company Reduces Carbon Footprint with a Variety of Activities

Salem, NH (February 22, 2016) 鈥� From alternative energy to stocking post-consumer recycled content in the office, 桃子视频 is leading the IT industry in corporate sustainability. The technology services provider, based in New England, recently rolled out 桃子视频 StepsUP, an eco-friendly initiative which helps to reduce emissions, pollutants and their overall environmental impact. Here are the activities 桃子视频 is working on to reduce its carbon footprint:

Reduced Carbon Emissions: Delivery vehicles are small, well-packed and energy-efficient, which can reduce emissions by 50% when compared to a large delivery truck. Routes are scheduled geographically to reduce unnecessary time on the road.

Waste Reduction: 桃子视频 has a number of initiatives around waste reduction. Most importantly,桃子视频 has implemented a composting program. All cafeteria items 鈥� from utensils to plates 鈥� are compostable and go into a composting program. 桃子视频 has eliminated unnecessary packaging waste by moving to bulk snacks for the employees, and also the employees now utilize reusable water bottles in lieu of disposable cups.

Recycling: 桃子视频 has two recycling initiatives. First is to do as much recycling in-house as possible. Second is to purchase paper goods 鈥� tissue, napkins, business cards, letterhead and envelopes – made from the maximum post-consumer recycled content available. In addition to in-house recycling programs, 桃子视频 offers free removal and proper disposal of all packaging materials delivered to customers.

LED Lighting: While incandescent lights have a lifespan of just 800 hours, 桃子视频鈥檚 LED lighting can shine bright for up to 60,000 hours.

Green Areas: Although committed to reserving 50% of its total property to undeveloped 鈥済reen space,鈥� 桃子视频 has exceeded this goal and reserved 72% of its land! These areas serve as natural wetlands, native habitats and employee rest areas.

Sustainable Energy: The 桃子视频 Data Center utilizes 鈥淓conomizers鈥� for air conditioning. This is a feature that uses the cold air from outside the building (below 60聽degrees) and equates to a reduction of electrical use for 9 months of the year. In addition to decreasing electrical use, 桃子视频 is in the process of investigating a combination of wind and solar power options. The projected project includes a 10kW wind turbine and several hundred square feet of photoelectric panels. With this configuration,桃子视频 expects to achieve a carbon footprint of zero during peak hours, and contribute energy back to the grid, which reduces fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gases.
